Is this the right fit?
This works best if:
-
Your child is sitting Cambridge (0620) or Edexcel IGCSE Chemistry
-
They're in Year 10 or Year 11
-
Lessons are online — anywhere in the world, any timezone we can match
-
The grades aren't matching the effort, whatever the reason turns out to be
The free diagnostic
There is always a reason. It's usually not the one you were told.
"She needs to practise more." "He's careless." "Just do more past papers." Parents hear this for months, and it rarely helps, because it isn't a diagnosis, it's a guess.
Different causes need different fixes. That's why the first lesson is a diagnosis, not a lesson.
What happens in the 30 minutes
We start with real work
Bring a recent test, a marked past paper, or the topic that keeps going wrong. We work through it together — no preparation needed.
I watch how they think
Not just whether the answer is right. Where the reasoning turns, what gets skipped, what is guessed. This is where the real cause shows up.
You get a plain answer
At the end I tell you what is actually going wrong, and what fixing it will take. In plain language. In writing, if you want it.
You leave knowing why — whether or not you continue lessons with me.

· IGCSE Chemistry Specialist
Hey, I'm Trevelyan. I've spent the last 5+ years teaching IGCSE Chemistry, and worked with 150+ students along the way. I graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Data Science and Analytics from NUS, and I still teach Chemistry the way I'd approach a dataset: find the specific pattern behind the error, not just re-explain the topic.
Track record
From failing to an A in IGCSE Chemistry.
I've been tutoring IGCSE Chemistry since 2021, working with 150+ students to find the specific misconception behind a stuck grade — not just re-teaching the syllabus. Here's what a few of those parents have said.
"My son's grades improved from a C to an A after just a few months. More importantly, he finally understood why he was losing marks."
— Parent of Year 11 IGCSE Chemistry Student
"The diagnostic session was incredibly helpful. We left knowing exactly what needed to be fixed instead of guessing."
— Parent of Cambridge IGCSE Student
"Clear explanations, structured lessons, and lots of exam practice. Chemistry became much less stressful for my daughter."
— Parent of Edexcel IGCSE Student
"What impressed me most was the focus on exam technique. My daughter knew the content but didn't know how to score the marks."
— Parent of Year 10 IGCSE Chemistry Student
See if the same is possible for your child — the first session is free.

A few common questions.
Is the diagnostic actually free?
Yes. No card, no payment, no catch. It's a real 30-minute lesson — you'll get a plain answer either way.
Which exam boards do you cover?
Cambridge IGCSE (0620) and Edexcel IGCSE Chemistry. Not sure which your child sits? Message me on WhatsApp and I'll check.
My child isn't failing — they just want to go from a B to an A*. Does this still help?
Yes. The diagnostic works the same way at any starting point — it finds exactly what's holding the grade back, whether that's a gap in understanding or in exam technique.
Do I need to sign up for a package?
No. The diagnostic is a one-off, no obligation to continue. If you do want to continue, I'll explain lesson rates and scheduling after — never before.
What if the timezone doesn't work?
Lessons are fully online, so we just find a time that works for both of us — evenings and weekends usually give the most options.
How many IGCSE students have you worked with?
150+ students over 5+ years, across Cambridge IGCSE (0620) and Edexcel.
